We are just a FOUR days away from our 2nd Annual Christmas in Conyngham Classic 5K and 1-Mile Fun Walk. We have composed a few FAQ's for your reference! We are excited to see you all soon-- roads are in great condition as per our "dry runs" that were "not so dry" this week.. and it appears as though the weather will be cooperating with us!
Q: Where does the race start/end and what time does it begin? A: The race starts and ends at the John and Ruth Gould Recreation Center (AKA The CVCO Building) 311 Main Street, Conyngham at 9:30AM. Please note, this is a 30 minute time difference from last year. We chose to push back the start time to make it easier for those wishing to stay for the CIC parade/events at the Borough Building grounds (12-4PM). Q: Where can I park? A: Limited parking is available at the CVCO building. Please be advised that if you choose to park here, you will not be able to leave until after the last runner/walker finishes. We have worked closely with local police/ambulance/fire to close off this road/entrance for safety reasons for ALL participants and to ensure that EACH and EVERYONE finishes safe and has a great experience! Additional parking is available at: Whispering Willows Park, adjacent, and the PNC Bank parking lot.. just a short walk from the CVCO building. Carpool is encouraged. Street parking is not recommended because this is where our course will run through. Q: What time does packet pick-up start this year? A: Packet pick-up starts at 8:00AM and will run through 9:00AM, sharp. Q: I missed the boat on pre-registration, will I get a t-shirt if I register on race day? How much does race-day registration cost? A: A t-shirt at race-day registration is not guaranteed. Guaranteed t-shirt deadline was Nov 16th. We have a limited amount of t-shirts left and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are local, see our registration table for more information on how to possibly pick-up a shirt yourself in the coming weeks-- we cannot mail race shirts. Race-day 5K registration is $25. Race-day 1-Mile Fun Walk registration is $20. Cash or checks are accepted. At this point, we cannot accept cards. Q: Are there awards? A: Yes! Award divisions are as follows: Overall male/female; Top 3: 13 and under; 14-16; 17-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+. We are also distributing edible cookie medals that double as tree ornaments to all pre-registered runners and those after totaling 200 particpants at packet pick-up, and each participant (both the 5K and the 1-Mile Fun Walk) age 21+ with valid I.D. and race bib will receive a complimentary craft beer courtesy of our amazing race sponsor, Conyngham Brewing Company! In addition, 5 "most festive participants" will receive a little reward from our committee as well, so dress accordingly! Q: How long do I have to finish? A: We did not put a time limit on the race. Our ambulance will follow the last runner to the finish line. Please be aware of our 5K course elevation-- Mile 1 is entirely uphill! Q: Are the roads closed? A: While we have worked very closely with the fire, ambulance, and police, this is an OPEN road race. Please use caution! Q: Is there a hydration station? A: Yes, on the 5K only! At Mile 1 you will see our "hydration station" (of which we made sure more volunteers were at this year to better accomodate you all) that will be providing runners with water. Thank you to First Quality Enterprises and Wegman's of Wilkesbarre for helping to make this station possible. Don't forget to take a banana and a water at the finish line, too! We've also teamed up with Conyngham Brewing Company to "quench your thirst" (age 21+, valid I.D. and race bib all required upon entry to the Brewery). It is conveniently located a few feet from the CVCO Building-- you're welcome! Oh, and for those under 21 or those that do not wish to redeem their beer, hot chocolate is available at the CVCO building thanks to our in-kind donor, SSPTV! Q: Where can I eat/drink after the race? A: Conyngham Brewing Company, Brass Buckle, and Cuz-N-Joe's will all have specials throughout the day in honor of our Christmas in Conyngham celebration! Also, there will be MANY amazing local food vendors at the Borough Building grounds from 12-4PM! Parade starts at noon! Q: Is 1-Mile Fun Walk course part of the same route as the 5K? A: No, please see our course map under the "course" tab! We at the Christmas in Conyngham Classic are very busy completing last minute tasks for race day... but we couldn't forget to thank our RUNDERFUL race sponsors.
